This event has ended

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on openly available information, one Wikipedia article at a time? The FIMS Graduate Library is excited to invite you to drop in during your lunch hour next week for a Women in Red edit-a-thon!

What’s Women in Red all about?

The mission of this Wikipedia Project is simple yet powerful: turning Wikipedia’s red links into blue links. These links represent topics and biographies missing from Wikipedia. Did you know that only 20% of the English Wikipedia’s biographies are about women? That’s where you come in!

No experience? No problem! Whether you’re a seasoned Wikipedia editor or brand new, this edit-a-thon is here to support your efforts.

Why participate?

Addressing this content gender gap isn’t just about adding articles—we can also make those that already exist more impactful by linking them to other content and to categories on Wikipedia, amplifying women’s and gender diverse voices and achievements in those spaces. Everyone is welcome to join and contribute at their own pace and in their own style. Plus, there will be light snacks and refreshments!

  • Hands on support to create and link Wikipedia articles
  • Improve the depth of information about women and gender diverse people available through Wikipedia
  • Engage in critical editing praxis as a tool to counteract gender bias on Wikipedia

When and Where?

Time: 12pm to 1 pm(drop in anytime)
Dates: March 17-21, 2025
Location: FIMS Graduate Library, Room 3020 D/E
