Work Opportunity in the FIMS Graduate Library (Summer/Fall 2026) 

Position: Student Library Assistant (SLA) (Two openings)

The FIMS Graduate Library is looking for detail-oriented Student Library Assistants to join our team! The successful candidates will contribute to general library operations.

We are committed to building a diverse team that reflects the vibrant community served by the FIMS Graduate Library and encourage qualified candidates from all backgrounds and positionalities to apply. We are interested in applications from students who meet the following criteria: 

  • Currently enrolled LIS graduate students who have completed or will complete LIS 9003 by May 2026. 
  • Able to work on-site part-time, including evenings and/or weekends. 
  • Availability for the Summer and Winter 2026 terms is preferred.

Expectations: 

  • 3–6 hours per week (3-hour shifts) with consistent weekly assignments, opportunities for additional hours, and flexibility to trade shifts with peers. 
  • One position includes a regular Saturday shift for the Fall term (excluding Thanksgiving and Reading Week), with opportunities to trade the shift when necessary.
  • A mix of public service and project-based responsibilities. 
  • Independent and collaborative assignments, including occasional solo work on-site. 
  • Compensation: $22/hour.

  • Be enrolled full-time at Western University. 
  • Hold a valid study permit with work conditions. 
  • Have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
